Covington Survivors In Lifeboat After Being Torpedoed.   
Survivors From The Covington About To Board The Nicholson. 
Real Photo Postcard. 
3 1/4 x5 1/2 inches . 
The card has surface marks, stains and a pinhole. 
The Covington was formerly the German liner Cincinnati. It was seized at the beginning of the World War I. The ship was renamed the Covington and became a U.S. Navy transport. On July 1, 1918, it was torpedoed by German submarine U-86 near the French coast and sank the next day.  Six crew members were killed while 770 were saved.  Very rare and unusual subject matter. An incredible World War I military image
